Responsible for developing, maintaining, and evaluating the Adventure of the Mind federal appropriation at Western Carolina University . Duties have included:

  • teaching two graduate courses a year on Digitized Resources and Multi-media in the Content Area;
  • managing an approximate annual budget of $400,000 (as of 2005 five grants totaling $1,800,000);
  • developing graduate course, undergraduate course, and teacher workshop curriculum outlines and materials;
  • teaching teachers in the seven western most counties of North Carolina;
  • leading and supervising employees;
  • reporting to the National Adventure of the American Mind Office - Education and Research Consortium of North Carolina;
  • managing an online lesson/unit plan data base for teachers nationwide (includes the evaluation process involved in lesson/unit plan approval);
  • teaching instructional technology and curriculum integration workshops for public, private, and charter school teachers;
  • working with public, private, and charter school teachers on curriculum integration and technology utilization in teaching and learning;
  • working with principals, superintendents, and instructional technology directors in school districts;
  • working with pre-service teachers and university teacher education faculty;
  • research and publications in the areas of adult learners in workshops and connecting learners to local primary sources;
  • Participation in the College of Education and Allied Professions Teacher Education Council, and Instructional Technology Committee (chair 2000 - 2003).

Chaired the Jumpstart Computer Curriculum Team and assisted in the management of Computer Jumpstart Training for freshmen from 1998 2000. Chaired the team that developed and maintained faculty and student Jumpstart workbooks. Developed and maintained the online web site for Jumpstart materials.

Developed and managed a comprehensive educational support services center that served the academic community at the college. Responsibilities included academic program review process, equipment and materials inventory; checkout/in of instructional materials and equipment; computer purchases and inventory; instructional materials development and purchase; and educational media instruction. Faculty/Staff representative on the presidential search committee and chair of the Human Relations Committee. Winner of the Greer Excellence in Education Award for Educational Support Staff. Responsible for developing and completing program reviews for academic programs.
